That's an interesting name, is it a dog?

My roommate Peridot on the Moira had one that stayed in our room. She called it Pointless.

It's uh. He's a spider.

[And he sends a picture to Starflight of the biggest, ugliest purple tarantula he's probably ever seen.]

Isn't he cute? He's going to be on my bedside table!

[That was admittedly not what he was expecting. Starflight had seen some rather large spiders before (Pyrrhian megafauna meant many creatures were smaller than he was used to), but he had never seen one that color before.]

Are you sure it's safe? Animals that color are usually venomous.

Well. I've had him in my pocket for an hour now? He hasn't bitten me yet, so I think it's alright.

[He winces a bit, knowing that that's not exactly compelling evidence.]

I'm glad to hear that, but that is probably not a very good idea? Just in case it is?

[There's a pause.]

I guess it's ok if you keep it in a locked up where it can't reach you. Maybe ask Magnus if there's terrarium you can use? Since he has 4 locked up in one, he might know where there's another.

I have a terrarium! It's mostly used for plants and stuff, but now I can add Octagon in it!

I'll have to find out what he eats though.

On Pyrrhia most spiders eat insects, though the bigger ones sometimes hunt other small creatures.

I don't know about alien spiders, though. Have you checked the library? I could help you research if you'd like!

Though... if spiders eat bugs, where am I supposed to find bugs? There aren't any on the ship. There aren't even any mice or anything.

Next time we stop by an organic planet, I should go out and try to catch some bugs.

Mice and such are fun to chase but I think I prefer not having any pests aboard. The Moira had an infestation of miniature cats from the kitten tree and it was very annoying. You always had to make sure you weren't going to step on one, and I couldn't even snack on them if I caught one because everyone would get mad.

I can help try and catch bugs, if you'd like. In the meantime I bet the bar has something it can eat. They even have fresh oranges there!
